Dr DAVE MURRAY, OUR CEO, IS PROMOTING TECHNIQUES FOR
THE FUTURE OF EVALUATION & TESTING (E&T)

E&T can help the MoD to “get a grip” on equipment delivery.

Defence projects are associated with late delivery, overspend and can be deemed to be not-fit-for-purpose. Dr Dave Murray believes that an effective Lifecycle E&T – using Simulation (LET’S) would improve efficiencies.

“get a grip”:-  “In a report released on 15th July 2020, the Public Accounts Committee highlighted the Ministry of Defence’s continued ‘lamentable failure to ‘get a grip’ and deliver on key defence capabilities needed by the UK’s Armed Forces.”

What next?

We have a draft plan to take the concept forward with the MOD and other stakeholders (Industry, Users, Academia etc.).

LET'S - Lifecycle Evaluation and Testing using Simulation

OVERVIEW

CONCEPT
The concept is simple – using evaluation and testing (E&T) techniques that persist for the equipment’s full lifecycle to replace the current system where this is not the case.

ADVANTAGES
The advantages include re-use of the E&T processes and equipment, plus a constant set of metrics for measuring progress. This would reduce risk, timescales, and so costs; as well as simplifying assessment of a project’s progress.

WHAT NEXT?

We are forming a group of interested companies to expand and endorse the proposal. The objective is to take this to a funded technical demonstrator phase. This work would complement other existing projects, for example a technical demonstrator for a synthetic environment.
